Before you leave Croatia

• Deregister your address — Cancel your registered residence (odjava prebivališta) with the police administration, and keep the certificate for your new country's authorities.
• Islands and the coast — From an island, your belongings first cross by ferry to the mainland. Summer traffic and narrow old-town streets may require a smaller vehicle for the first leg — we check access at quote stage.
• Your Croatian-registered vehicle — Deregister the car for export at a vehicle registration station, then register it in your new country.
• Tax and health insurance — Inform the Tax Administration and the Croatian Health Insurance Fund (HZZO) of your departure if you have been resident or employed in Croatia.

Exporting your belongings from Croatia

To another EU country: if Croatia and your destination are both in the EU, your belongings travel freely. There is no export declaration and no customs clearance.

To a country outside the EU: we file the export declaration in Croatia on your behalf. What matters most is the import side: whether your belongings enter your new country free of duty depends on that country's rules. Each destination guide explains them.

Wherever you are going, prepare a detailed inventory of your belongings. It is required at destination for almost every move outside the EU, and it is the basis of your insurance.

For destinations outside the EU — the UK, Switzerland, Norway, North America — we file the Croatian export declaration before departure. Containers usually leave from Rijeka or Ploče.
