Before you leave Denmark
- Report your departure — If you will live abroad for more than six months, you report your move to your municipality before you leave, usually online through borger.dk, so you are registered in the CPR as having left Denmark.
- Your Danish-registered vehicle — A car leaving Denmark for good is deregistered with the Danish Motor Vehicle Agency. You may be able to claim back part of the registration tax on export — check before you ship.
- Tax and pension — Inform the Danish Tax Agency of your departure and check your pension position if you have worked in Denmark.
- Rental contract — Check your lease for its notice period — three months is common — and plan the exit inspection of the flat.
- Contracts and subscriptions — Cancel or transfer electricity, broadband, mobile and insurance contracts, and keep the final bills.
Exporting your belongings from Denmark
To another EU country: if Denmark and your destination are both in the EU, your belongings travel freely. There is no export declaration and no customs clearance.
To a country outside the EU: we file the export declaration in Denmark on your behalf. What matters most is the import side: whether your belongings enter your new country free of duty depends on that country's rules. Each destination guide explains them.
Wherever you are going, prepare a detailed inventory of your belongings. It is required at destination for almost every move outside the EU, and it is the basis of your insurance.
Moves from Denmark to Norway, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, the United States, Canada or any other non-EU country require an export declaration, which we file before departure. Overseas containers usually leave from Aarhus or via Hamburg and Bremerhaven.
How a move from Denmark works
- Free quote. Share your origin, your delivery address in Denmark and roughly how much you are moving. A written quote lands in your inbox within 24 hours.
- Survey and planning. Your coordinator rechecks the volume, locks the transport mode and lists the customs rules you fall under on your way to Denmark.
- Packing and collection. Our local team packs, inventories and loads your belongings at your home in Denmark.
- Transport. Your belongings travel by the mode that fits your route to Denmark: dedicated truck or shared load within Europe, sea container or air freight otherwise.
- Customs clearance (where required). Non-EU destinations get a two-sided customs file: we file the export from Denmark and prepare the import at destination (Danish export declaration for non-EU destinations).
- Delivery and set-up. Delivery to your new home, unpacking and furniture reassembly if included in your quote.
One coordinator follows your move from Denmark from the first call to the final delivery.

| Netherlands, Belgium, Norway | Road — dedicated truck | 1 to 4 days, plus customs clearance for Norway |
| France, Switzerland, Austria, Italy | Road — dedicated truck | 3 to 6 days, plus customs clearance for Switzerland |
| Spain, Portugal, United Kingdom | Road — dedicated truck | 4 to 7 days, plus customs clearance for the UK |

How the price of your move from Denmark is calculated
Your price from Denmark is built from a handful of concrete variables, the same for every international mover:
- Volume — in cubic metres: it drives most of the price. Use our room-by-room calculator for an accurate figure.
- Distance and route — the actual door-to-door distance to Denmark, not a bird-flight shortcut.
- Transport mode — shared road load, a truck booked only for you, FCL or LCL by sea, or air for very small cargo.
- Services — everything beyond pure transport: packing, dismantling, crating, short-term storage, extra legs by ferry.
- Access — top-floor flats with no lift, narrow lanes, long carries, external hoists when the stairs will not do.
- Customs — declaration fees and port or airport handling, when the route to Denmark crosses a customs border.
- Insurance — priced as a percentage of what you tell us your belongings are worth.
Typical volumes, as a guide:
| Home | Typical volume |
|---|---|
| Studio | 10 to 15 m³ |
| 1-bedroom flat | 15 to 25 m³ |
| 2-bedroom home | 25 to 40 m³ |
| 3-bedroom home | 40 to 60 m³ |
| 4-bedroom house or larger | 60 m³ and more |
