Before you leave Poland
- Report your departure — If you are leaving Poland for more than six months, or for good, you report your departure to your municipality — online or at the office — no later than the day you leave.
- Your Polish-registered vehicle — A car leaving Poland for good is deregistered with your local vehicle registration office once it is registered abroad, or as required for export. Your new country then registers it.
- Tax and social insurance — Check your tax residence position with the tax office, and your social insurance (ZUS) and health insurance (NFZ) position if you have worked in Poland.
- Proof of your residence — Destination customs often ask for proof of how long you lived outside their territory: keep your lease, utility bills and employment records.
- Contracts and subscriptions — Cancel or transfer electricity, internet, mobile and insurance contracts in good time, and keep the final bills as proof of your departure date.
Exporting your belongings from Poland
To another EU country: if Poland and your destination are both in the EU, your belongings travel freely. There is no export declaration and no customs clearance.
To a country outside the EU: we file the export declaration in Poland on your behalf. What matters most is the import side: whether your belongings enter your new country free of duty depends on that country's rules. Each destination guide explains them.
Wherever you are going, prepare a detailed inventory of your belongings. It is required at destination for almost every move outside the EU, and it is the basis of your insurance.
Moves from Poland to the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, the United States, Canada or any other non-EU country require an export declaration, which we file before departure. Overseas containers usually leave from Gdańsk or Gdynia.
How a move from Poland works
- Free quote. Tell us your origin, destination in Poland and approximate volume. You receive an online estimate and a detailed quote within 24 hours.
- Survey and planning. Your coordinator rechecks the volume, locks the transport mode and lists the customs rules you fall under on your way to Poland.
- Packing and collection. We bring the packing materials to your home, inventory each piece and load everything on moving day.
- Transport. By road across Europe, or by sea container between continents — whichever best fits your route to Poland.
- Customs clearance (where required). Non-EU destinations get a two-sided customs file: we file the export from Poland and prepare the import at destination (Polish export declaration for non-EU destinations).
- Delivery and set-up. We deliver at your new address and, if you asked for it on the quote, unpack boxes and reassemble furniture.
The same coordinator sees your move from Poland through, from your first email to the keys being handed over.

How the price of your move from Poland is calculated
We price every move from Poland with the same ingredients — nothing hidden, nothing improvised:
- Volume — measured in cubic metres (m³) — the main cost driver. Our online volume calculator helps you estimate it room by room.
- Distance and route — from your origin address to your new home in Poland.
- Transport mode — shared road load, a truck booked only for you, FCL or LCL by sea, or air for very small cargo.
- Services — packing, furniture dismantling and reassembly, fragile item crating, storage, delivery to an island.
- Access — floors without a lift, narrow streets, long carry distances or the need for an external lift.
- Customs — brokerage, declaration and port handling charges on routes to Poland that cross a customs border.
- Insurance — calculated as a percentage of the declared value of your belongings.
Typical volumes, as a guide:
| Home | Typical volume |
|---|---|
| Studio | 10 to 15 m³ |
| 1-bedroom flat | 15 to 25 m³ |
| 2-bedroom home | 25 to 40 m³ |
| 3-bedroom home | 40 to 60 m³ |
| 4-bedroom house or larger | 60 m³ and more |
European road moves get a starting price straight from the estimator; everything else — sea, air, customs — is quoted in writing within 24 hours.
